Acne Defined by Merriam Webster
ACNE
: a disorder of the skin caused by inflammation of the skin glands and hair follicles; specifically : a form found chiefly in adolescents and marked by pimples especially on the face
Dis-order means that something is out of order… (Yeah, a little obvious)
Skin is an exterior organ of the body
Inflamation is a local response to cellular injury that is marked by, leukocytic infiltration, redness, heat, and pain and that serves as a mechanism initiating the elimination of noxious agents and of damaged tissue
Beyond our stoic but informative description above,
Inflammation is a red flag and serves us by letting us by calling out attention to it; that redness on your body is usually a clear sign that your body is working overtime to removing the toxin.
Acne can also be described is the term we use for plugged pores or blackheads and whiteheads, pimples, and even deeper tissued lumps called cysts or nodules that can occur all over the body.
More commonly known to us as zits or pimples, acne is first made aware to us by inflammation of the skin. But before it was even seen the pore had been blocked for about 2-3 weeks.
So if your desire would be to rid yourself of acne, understand that your primary goal will not be to just remove these nasty anomalies with a one-time treatment cream (Not that I don’t recommend certain products),but to understand that our skins are trying to tell us that something is wrong through it’s breaking out. And more than not, unless your just going through puberty, those nasty zits will most likely be repeat offenders…
Why they Show Up!
Hair follicles, which are also often called pores, sometimes get blocked which leads to the blockage of sebum oil and then bacteria begins to grow.
The Sebum (oil) which normally drains to the surface to keep skin lubricated, gets blocked. Some of the blockage can be caused an over production of sebum oil (usually caused by an unhealthy diet), dead skin blocking the pores, or too much lotion.
